Fresh off Euro 2020(in 2021), the 2021-2022 Premier League season has already begun! In a year where the league lost Fulham, West Brom, and Sheffield United, they also gain Norwich, Brentford and Watford. Norwich and Watford were both in the PL as recent as the 2019-2020 season, whereas Brentford hasn’t been in the league since the 1940s! Manchester City won the league last year by a whopping 12 points(!!) but they have hardly rebuilt like the teams around them in Chelsea (Lukkaku) and Man United (Sancho and Varane). Manchester City did acquire up and coming star winger in Jack Grealish, however Sterling and Mahrez were far from replaceable from last season. Norwich will see premier league action, unfortunately this will be after losing their two stars in Emi Buendia and Oliver Skipp so it will be an uphill climb up the table. While Spurs and to a lesser extent, Manchester City, are impacted directly by the pending transfer news of Harry Kane. This could change the fortunes of either, as Spurs could drop far down the table whereas City could solidify themselves as the top team, which is hardly the case entering the season. We look for Liverpool to bounce back after a treacherous 2020 campaign and a fully healthy squad. Firmino had a very down year and while we don’t expect that to continue, Mane and Salah are still top wingers in this league. Chelsea appears to have stars all over the field and Tuchel coached well last year, but can these new players mesh? It also remains to be seen if Chelsea can hold up defensively as they did a year ago with that being a big recipe of their success last season. Leeds had a tough year by record, however Patrick Bamford and Raphina return along with Illan Meslier in goal after a very strong 2020 campaign and we expect them to build off their top 9 finish. We also expect Wolves to climb up the table as the year goes on and will prove to be a tough out each weekend. The big variance of the group is Everton. After a great start to 2020, Everton crashed hard and lost their manager to Real Madrid. It doesn’t appear James Rodriguez is a great fit, and they appear to be trending down for this current season.
