John Wall and Houston Rockets Agree on Buyout

John Wall and the Houston Rockets reached an agreement that allows the five-time All-Star to become an unrestricted free agent, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

This ends a long saga for Wall and the Rockets where John Wall made around $115 million off the Rockets, while only appearing in 40 games. Absences ranged from injury related to management decision to sit even when he expressed desire to suit up. It is reported that the Rockets will save about $7 million in the buyout, clearing the way for Wall to sign via Mid Level Exception elsewhere. Quite a bit is yet to be determined about the playing ability for the 31 year-old, who has already suffered an Achilles tendon injury. Per reports, John Wall will clear waivers and sign right away with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Wall will be able to make an impact right away and provide some playmaking opportunities alongside Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. They have a glaring need at backup point guard and his ability to dominate the ball with the second team is something this team lacked in 2022.
