The NFL draft is coming off a record high in ratings from last year when we were all at home and the draft was the biggest thing on. This year the draft heads to Cleveland where, as fans, we can look forward to Roger Goodell getting serenaded in boos as he walks up to announce the number 1 overall pick in the draft. We are officially 139 days until the kickoff of the NFL season, so, who will be the big additions for your favorite team?
Pick 1 Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson
Even after recent comments about his love for football, don’t overthink who the best QB is in this draft. Lawrence has succeeded at every level and will be just fine in the NFL.
Pick 2 New York Jets: Zach Wilson, QB BYU
Zach Wilson has the potential to be a great QB in the NFL, but can he succeed with the Jets and finally give them a QB to have hope in?
Pick 3 San Francisco 49ers: Justin Fields, QB Ohio State
This is who I believe is the third-best QB in the draft and after the 49ers have not shown their hand at all on which QB they will take I believe this is the one and the best option.
Pick 4 New England Patriots via trade w/Atlanta Falcons: Mac Jones, QB Alabama
I haven’t been the biggest Mac Jones fan this whole offseason and I certainly don’t think he is top 5 pick material. However, NFL teams view him differently and maybe he works out with the Patriots trading up and grabbing him.
Pick 5 Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT Oregon
Things that I have seen make me think they take Chase here. However, I don’t think you can pass on protecting Joe Burrow after he is coming off a torn ACL.
Pick 6 Miami Dolphins: Kyle Pitts, TE Florida
This could be the best player in the draft and the Dolphins need to get playmakers surrounding Tua. If the Dolphins can trade down from 3 to 6 and still get Pitts, they could win the draft.
Pick 7 LA Chargers via trade w/Detroit Lions: Rashawn Slater, OT Northwestern
The track record of new Lions GM suggests they could trade this pick and I believe they do, and the Chargers go and get the best OT in this year’s draft.
Pick 8 Carolina Panthers: Ja’Marr Chase, WR LSU
The Panthers do need offensive line help but after missing out on Sewell and Slater, they take the best WR in the draft. Help to replace the loss of Curtis Samuel and to give Sam Darnold another playmaker.
Pick 9 Denver Broncos: Trey Lance, QB North Dakota State
I am not sure the Broncos are sold on Drew Lock, but I am also not sure they want to fix that issue in the draft. However, Lance might have the most boom or bust potential in this draft for QBs and the Broncos take a chance on him.
Pick 10 Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB Alabama
You can take your pick on which CB you think the Cowboys will take but they need help there and I believe Surtain is the best in this draft over Jaycee Horn.
Pick 11 New York Giants: Kwity Paye, EDGE Michigan
Giants lost out on Leonard Floyd in the offseason and although I think they may take WR here I think they will continue to add to the pass rush and an already solid defense.
Pick 12 Philadelphia Eagles: Jaylen Waddle, WR Alabama
The Eagles must take WR here and they must get it right this time. One of the Alabama duo will be taken in this spot and it’s whichever the Eagles like the most. I’ll go Waddle at 12.
Pick 13 Detroit Lions via trade w/LA Chargers: Devonta Smith, WR Alabama
I am personally not worried about the size and weight of Devonta Smith. I think he will be a great pro and the Lions need a playmaker to help replace Golladay.
Pick 14 Minnesota Vikings: Jaelan Philips, EDGE Miami
Minnesota needs offensive line help badly and after the departure of Riley Reiff I could see them taking Darrisaw, but the Vikings also need an edge rusher and Zimmer always seems to get his defensive picks in and this time needs it to help with the league-worst pass rush from last year.
Pick 15 Atlanta Falcons via trade w/NE Patriots: Micah Parsons, LB Penn State
I only think the Falcons are picking this late if the Patriots off a future first. If they do find themselves here, I think they have a great chance to pick a much-needed player in a position of need. Micah Parsons is arguably top 10 talent in this draft.
Pick 16 Arizona Cardinals: Jaycee Horn, CB South Carolina
Jaycee Horn is another top 10 talent that could find himself falling this far. Some have him at CB1 and this is a great spot for the Cardinals to draft him and begin replacing Patrick Peterson.
Pick 17 Las Vegas Raiders: Christian Darrisaw, OT Virginia Tech
This is a nice value pick for the Raiders getting Darrisaw in the draft. Darrisaw has been viewed around the 13 or 14 spots, but the Raiders staying put and getting Darrisaw is a nice pick.
Pick 18 Miami Dolphins: Azeez Ojulari, EDGE Georgia
The Dolphins have a shot of having a great draft if they can grab Ojulari at 18. After taking Pitts they get a high character guy who is a great edge rusher.
Pick 19 Washington Football Team: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramah, LB ND
Washington is going to draft LB or S at this pick if they decide to stay put. I believe Owusu-Koramah is the perfect fit here when you are talking about needing both those needs.
Pick 20 Chicago Bears: Kadarius Toney, WR Florida
The reason for Kadarius Toney here is because I think the Bears need an elusive playmaker in the offense, but I also think Ryan Pace knows he needs Andy Dalton to succeed to keep his job.
Pick 21 Indianapolis Colts: Caleb Farley, CB Virginia Tech
Colts solidify their defense behind Darius Leonard by taking arguably a top 5 talent that will fall for health concerns.
Pick 22 Tennessee Titans: Greg Newsome II, CB Northwestern
The Titans haven’t had a great offseason here and they need to help their second league-worst pass rush from last year while also trying to replace the Corey Davis departure. However, Newsome is a good pick here and they can use a CB here.
Pick 23 New York Jets: Gregory Rousseau, EDGE Miami
Sometime in the past year, someone in Rousseau’s camp told him he needed to add weight in draft prep. He looked clunky in the offseason and has drawn some teams away from him. Saleh will add to his defense here with the Jets and I think can get a solid contributor at 23.
Pick 24 Pittsburgh Steelers: Teven Jenkins, OT Oklahoma State
Steelers have an important draft coming up. They need a QB to eventually replace Big Ben and they also just lost James Connor in the offseason. However, they still need offensive line help to block for these positions.
Pick 25 Jacksonville Jaguars: Jayson Oweh, EDGE Penn State
The Jaguars had the second-fewest sacks in the league last year they add Oweh after taking Lawrence. Oweh has all the athletic build that you could hope for. You can teach the build, but he will need polishing in pass-rushing technique.
Pick 26 Cleveland Browns: Christian Barmore, IDL Alabama
The Browns just added Jadeveon Clowney recently and will continue to bolster the defensive line here with Barmore. Barmore is very explosive in powerful in the interior line and that will help the Cleveland defense.
Pick 27 Baltimore Ravens: Treveon Moehrig, S TCU
The Ravens love to trade back but the value of taking Moehrig here is hard to pass up. Moehrig is by far the best safety in this draft so while EDGE is a position of need, I believe they will go the better player in this instance.
Pick 28 New Orleans Saints: Asante Samuel Jr., CB Florida State
The Saints could try to trade up and find a QB that falls past 10, but I don’t see that happening and the Saints need a CB. I like Samuel Jr. more than others in this draft, I think he can be very physical and has good feet that will play well with his already good technique.
Pick 29 Green bay Packers: Landon Dickerson, C Alabama
Corey Linsley left so there is a hole on the offensive line. All signs point to Dickerson recovering well from the torn ACL and I think he could be a long-term starter in the league.
Pick 30 Buffalo Bills: Joe Tryon, EDGE Washington
Bills would like to go secondary here I feel, but a lot of the round 1 talented corners are off the board. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they went LB, but they need EDGE help on the opposite side of Jerry Hughes.
Pick 31 Baltimore Ravens via trade w/KC Chiefs: Joseph Ossai, EDGE Texas
The Ravens traded Orlando Brown for this spot and immediately added OT help. I still think they have a big hole at EDGE rusher and need to address it. Ossai might be a bit of a reach but I believe he is an early 2nd round talent and worthy of being drafted here.
Pick 32 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Levi Onwuzurike, IDL Washington
Bucs have a great luxury pick here and I would have thought they would take RB but after the signing of Giovani Bernard, I think they go IDL or WR. Ultimately, they take Onwuzurike who has shown great flashes but needs to maintain that dominance in the interior line.
